Nigerians have suggested various punishments for Senator Elisha Abbo, who was accused of physical assault. One of the punishments suggested by Lauretta Onochie, a presidential media aide, was jail term.
Onochie said that Nigerians will be displeased, if justice is delayed or miscarried in Senator Abbo’s case The social media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Lauretta Onochie, has expressed satisfaction over the fact that Senator Elisha Abbo, who was accused of physically assaulting a woman in Abuja, was arraigned in court on Monday, July 8. Onochie advised the court to examine the available evidence presented against Senator Abbo and mete out the jail term he deserves.
The presidential media aide said that Nigerians will not be pleased, if justice is miscarried or when he is given so much comfort while he serves his jail term.
Laurreta Onochie wrote on her Twitter handle: I am delighted that Elisha Abbo, the unworthy Senator was arraigned before a court of law today. The overwhelming evidence against him should be considered & appropriate jail sentence, handed out. What Nigerians would NOT want to see is a suspended jail term or jail in a hotel.
It was earlier reported that despite issuing a public statement apologising for his conduct, Abbo had been arraigned by the Nigerian police where he pleaded not-guilty. A video of Abba assaulting a woman in an adult shop in Abuja had gone viral, causing outrage.
