As the gubernatorial electionin Edo and Ondo states keep gathering momentum especially the Edo State where the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole and the current governor who is also an aspirant Goodwin Obaseki are having a logjam over who controls the state
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) party Chairman in the state Mr Tony Aziegbemi has narrated how the Governor is being maltreated in the ruling party.
Mr Tony while featuring on Sunrisedaily on ChannelsTV, said ‘We believe the Governor Godwin Obaseki is being maltreated by his party. If he comes over to ours, we could give him a waiver but no automatic ticket’.
Governor Obaseki who is seeking second term ticket has been in a long battle with the party National Chairman, Oshiomhole and this causing crisis in the state for over a long period of time with the National Chairman believed to be supporting Pastor Ize-Iyamu.
Recall that Ize-Iyamu was selected as a consensus candidate in the mini primary held in Abuja by a group loyal to Adams Oshiomhole and he has since then obtained the party forms.
Meanwhile, a pressure group known as Obaseki Mandate group on their own part picked party forms for Obaseki at the party Secretariat yesterday in Abuja.
Obaseki and Pastor Ize-Iyamu will be slugging it out in the party primary slated for June 22, 2020.
