Gov Fayemi Visits Alaafin Oyo Over Ekiti Monarch Tussle[PHOTOS]

The Traditional ruler leadership tussle in Ekiti State has taken another dimension today when the State Governor, Dr John Kayode Fayemi, today March 15, visit the His Imperial Majesty, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III.

The crisis started last year in Ekiti State when Dr Fayemi appointed the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti as the Chairman of Ekiti Obas and this culmutated to serious crisis when the 16 first class oba popularly called Pelupelu rejected the nomination and appointment of Alawe.

They claimed Alawe is not among the Agba Merindinlogun(pelupelu) and the 16 traditional Rulers boycotted the traditional and social functional in the state since then.

Last week, Governor Fayemi quary the sixteen traditional rulers for the continuous absence in all the activities of the state and this generated alot of controversy within and outside the state that some believed that governor Fayemi is planning to Dethroned the Monarchs like what happened in Kano last two weeks to Sanusi Lamido.

This tension quickly prompted Alaafin Oyo to write governor Fayemi on his action and to remember Yoruba Monarch is different from northern Emir. He warned Fayemi of the consequences that may follow his action.

In retaliation, Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, quickly replied Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, to warn Oba Lamido Layiwola Adeyemi sto stop medlling in Ekiti Traditional Institution affairs.

This afternoon, governor Fayemi paid the iku baba yeye, Alase Orissa, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III a visit in response to His Imperial Majesty’s letter to Governor Fayemi.
