Hushpuppi: I’ve Contacted Highly Experienced US Law Firm On Behalf Of Abba Kyari – Bamgbose

National Coordinator, Concerned Advocates for Good Governance (CAGG), Olusegun Bamgbose said he has swung into action to ensure that embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Abba Kyari, gets fair trial in the United States.

The CAGG boss said he has already contacted US law firm with lawyers experienced in extradition matters on behalf of the senior police officer.

Recall that the United States’ Department of Justice had recently disclosed that in its investigations into the activities of Hushpuppi, it discovered that the Nigerian frauddter bribed Kyari to arrest one Kelly Chibuzo Vincent, his accomplice in Nigeria.

Kyari had swiftly denied the allegations in a post he shared on Facebook, but admitted acting as a go-between the fraudster and a local tailor, who Hushpuppi allegedly made payments to.

And Bamgbose noted that the move to extradite the suspended ‘super cop’ is no doubt a big challenge before the Nigerian Police.

“I have diligently consulted with about three notable law firms in the United States to give me their legal opinions on what can be done to formidably defend Abba Kyari,” he told newsmen in Lagos on Tuesday.

He disclosed that one of the leading law firms has already responded to him and has gone ahead to send the indictment against the Nigerian senior police officer.

“The reputable law firm, well-grounded on extradition issues, has assured me of their readiness to represent Abba Kyari’s interest even before he will be extradited to the United States,” he added.

Bamgbose said he has obtained from the law firm all that is needed to successfully defend Abba Kyari in the United States, adding that this seems the only way out to rescue the officer.

“The contacted US Attorney has carefully studied the indictment against Abba Kyari and has concluded that all hope is not lost,” he said, adding that “the contacted Attorney has vast experience in extradition matters.

“This is not the best time to crucify Abba Kyari but to find a way out. As a trained lawyer, no case is hopeless,” Bamgbose assured
