JUST IN: FG Postpones 2020 WAEC, NECO Exams Indefinitely

Amid the Coronavirus pandemic that has hit Nigeria with cases of more than 600 since the virus broke out February through an Italian man aboard Turkish airlines and which had grounded virtually all government activities and school calendar, the Federal Government has announced the postponement of 2020 West African Examination Council (WAEC) and the National Examination Council (NECO) indefinitely.

According to Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajubu, this year’s Senior School Certificate Examination has been postponed indefinitely due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Emeka said the government has made provision for online lessons for the students. The Minister said this year West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) has been postponed and government has made online lectures for the students.

He said his Ministry is working with ministry of information under Alhaji Lai Mohammed to escalate content to provide for every home and students.

The Minister said they regret any inconveniences this might caused the parents and the students.

Coronavirus pandemic called covid-19 has caused the death 21 people in Nigeria and over 100 have recovered from the deadly virus.
