Bauchi State governor, Alhaji Bala Muhammed, on Friday, February 28, 2020, said he could not sponsor the WAEC fees of over 8,000 students of the state due to financial incapability.

The total students that are supposed to write the West African Examination Council (WAEC) in the northern state amount to 21,000 but the state said they could only get 13,000 registered out of the total population.

Disclosing this on Friday, the chief of staff to governor Bala Muhammed, Mr Ladan Salisu, said the government of Bauchi under Bala Muhammed has pleaded with West African Examination Council (WAEC) to allow parents/guardiance to pay for their children who do not meet the governor sponsored list.

This is in contrary to the fact that the state the State governor lavished a whooping amount of N3.6bn on cars for the state officials.

Mr Salisu said previous government of the state has wasted much on WAEC fees which eventually lead to corruption.
