Barely two days after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the Kano state governorship election inconclusive, members of the Peoples Democratic party,PDP, have go spiritual by embarking on non-obligatory prayers and fasting seeking Allah’s intervention.
It was observed that the PDP members have conducted prayers and sacrifices at various local governments across the state.
The PDP members are seeking Allah’s intervention on the coming rescheduled election in some of the polling units, which will hold on 23rd March 2019, also invoking Allah’s anger on anybody who attempts to steal their mandate.
It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday declared Kano governorship election inconclusive.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the state, Riskuwa Shehu, declared the election inconclusive for what he described as high number of cancelled votes compared to the margin between APC and PDP candidate.
He,therefore, ordered for a rerun in areas where elections were cancelled in different parts of the State.
PDP polled a total of 1,014,353 votes ahead of the APC which secured 953,522 votes in the governorship election of the state.
Total margin between both APC and PDP candidate was 26,000 while Total votes cancelled was141,694.
Both the two parties are strategizing on how to woo the electorates in the areas where the re-run will be conducted to give them their votes on the 23rd of March 2019.
