Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has received various condemnations and backlashes for stepping on the picture of his predecessor and chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, at a rally in Kano.

In a rally to mark June 12 Democracy Day and receiving some defectors from opposition parties at Kano Pillars Stadium, Sabongari, Kano, the governor stepped on Mr Kwankwaso’s picture in the area filled with various dignitaries to cheer the occasion.

Ganduje and his predecessor, Kwankwaso has been at logjam since the latter defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the wake to 2019 general election.

Governor Gabduje has been condemned for the act, from both supporters and his critics.

Former commissioner for Works in the state and supporter of the Ganduje, Muazu Magaji, faulted the governor’s action, saying it is unbecoming of his position as a leader. “Noooo your Excellency, pls no! Whoever advised this as an act of political opposition or more appropriately a demonstration of conquest, vanquish or authority doesn’t know politics enough and how it spins. This act I’m sorry to say Sir, is petty and not right, coming from an elder and our leader like yourself.

Mr Mohammed Jamu, lend his voice to it too and wrote; “It’s a pity at your age Ganduje this is what you consider as political supremacy. Stepping on the picture of His Excellency the chief Promoter of Education, Sen Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. The man who God in his infinite mercy used to promote you to the level you are today, from Deputy Governor in 1999-2003 to his SA when he was Defense Minister, to the Executive Secretary Lake Tchad Basin, and back again as his deputy 2011-2015, before single handedly nominating you to serve as Kano Governor. My message to u in clear terms is what you sow you will surely reap.

Fapohunda Tosin on his own said, “So governor Abdullahi Ganduje actually stood on a pamphlet displaying his former boss’s picture, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as a sign of conquest. Politics and politicians can be so petty eehn. Whoever advised him to do this is a baby politician.
