Three Chiefs Set Ablaze Over Allegations Of Witchcraft In Cross River

It was a dreadful day in Oku Community in Booking Local Government of Cross River State over the weekend as three Chiefs of the community were set ablazed by the community youths over the allegations of Witchcraft levelled against them.
The victims were alleged of being the witches and wizard of the community which trigger the youth of the community to set them ablaze and put the laws in their own hand.
One of the victims who died hour after the incident was a former Boki Oil Palm Estate in Borum Chief Bernard Kekong. Others which sustained different degree of injuries when they were set on fire were Edward Kekong, John Otu among others.
Aside the three Chiefs, three other person’s were also victim of such bad scenario who were not chief.
According to an eye witness, the elderly men and women accused of being Witchcraft were dragged from their home and then set on fire.
The situation had drawn the attention of the state police but all effort to curb the situation prove abortibe as the evil deeds has been done before they could arrived the scene.
