Two Professors, 25 Others Sworn In As LGA Chairmen In Borno

Two professors were among 27 local government chairmen inaugurated in Borno State on Wednesday.

Adamu Alooma, a professor of Banking and Finance, was a former dean at the Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Maiduguri, and took oath as the chairman of the Damboa Local Government Area. Ibrahim Bukar, a professor of education, also at the same university, took oath as the chairman of Gwoza LGA.

The professors were elected during the election conducted on November 28. During the inauguration of the chairmen, Governor Zulum recalled that the council election was not conducted in the state for over 10 years due to the lingering security crisis in the state.

The governor congratulated all the elected chairmen, saying they had a major task ahead of them.

He directed the Ministry for Local Government and Emirate Affairs to release to the elected chairmen funds allocated to the 27 councils from the federation account so they could begin to impact lives at the grass roots
