Why I Can’t Stop Stealing – Suspect Tells Police

A 30-year old suspect, Lekan Jubril, has told the police that he was not sure he would ever stop stealing as he suffered from kleptomania, confessing that each time he was arrested, sentenced to prison and he came out, the drive to steal became stronger.

Jubril, who was arrested by police operatives from Ejigbo Division led by the DPO, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi after involving in a robbery operation at Okoye Street Bucknor Estate, Ejigbo, said he knew he would turn out a criminal as he started smoking Indian hemp at the tender age of 10, adding that he had participated in so many criminal activities and had gone to prison three times in Lagos.

The Oyo State-born Jubril said the first time he was arrested and charged to court, he spent eight months in prison but when he came out he continued stealing, saying he was caught again and sentenced to another two years imprisonment.

Jubril explained that he spent only six months before he got state pardon and was released before he committed another crime, re-arrested and sent to prison where he spent two months before the latest arrest.

The suspect said he had not thought of doing any other thing than to steal from people and usually operated as one-man squad in his operations.

He said he landed in trouble after he joined three other members of his gang to burgle an apartment at Okoye Street, Bucknor Estate, Ejigbo, and he was eventually caught by the police.

According to the police, they carted away some valuables including laptop, mobile phone and other items from the apartment before he was eventually caught by police operatives

The suspect was detained at the police station, where he confessed that he was a criminal and had sold some of the items he stole. However, the DPO of Ejigbo Police Station, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi said that Jubril would be charged to court for burglary and stealing.

Man Arrested For Stealing Church Tithes And Offerings [PHOTO]

A 18-year-old man, Elikor Ehud, has been arrested by men of the Ejigbo police station in Lagos state for allegedly carting away the church’s tithes and offering.

A statement released by the state police command’s spokesperson, Bala Elkana, says on October 1st, one Pastor Moses Nwoke of the Divine Chosen Vine Ministry, Furniture Avenue, Ejigbo, reported at the Ejigbo Police Station that on August 30th after Church Service, unknown persons broke the wooden Boxes placed on the Altar meant for Tithes and Special Seeds of Faith Offering and stole the money.

After a thorough and painstaking Investigation conducted by the Ejigbo Police Station under the supervision of the Divisional Police Officer, Ehud was arrested on October 15th.

When interrogated, Ehud confessed to stealing the sum of six hundred and seventy thousand naira (#670,000.00) cash from the Church Boxes. He also mentioned one Lucky as his accomplice.

The police says efforts are in place to apprehend the said accomplice. The suspect will be charged to Court.

Yesterday, a young man was caught stealing a pregnant woman’s panties at University compound.

The yet-to-be identified man who stole panties belonging to a pregnant woman was nabbed october 18, at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai in Niger State.

Though the suspect’s motive of stealing the panties is not yet known. He has already been handed over to security operatives for further investigation

BREAKING: Another Nigerian Killed In South Africa, Says Nigerian Union

Despite effort by both Nigeria and South Africa to end Xenophobia in the Southern African country, the Nigerian community in South Africa has confirmed the killing of one of its members, Ikenna Innocent Otugo.

Mr Sylvester Okonkwo, Acting Chairman of Nigerian Union, South Africa (NUSA) in the Kwazulu Natal Province, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday that the deceased was killed at Empangeni, in the province on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

He said that Otugo, 41, and a native of Nimo in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, was allegedly stabbed to death by unknown assailants over a business disagreement.

Okonkwo told NAN on telephone from Empangeni that Otugo had repaired a cellphone for a client in the area. He said that information made available to the union indicated that the female client was not satisfied with the work done by Otugo. Okonkwo said that the client brought some men who allegedly stabbed the victim.

He said, “Otugo died on the way to the hospital following the stabbing. We have reported the incident to the police and national secretariat of our union, NUSA.

“His (Otugo’s) body is now in the mortuary awaiting autopsy.” The acting chairman said that the victim is survived by a nine-year-old son. Contacted, Mr Adetola Olubajo, President of NUSA, said that the national secretariat had been informed about the incident.
