The Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) has declared that they are working silently to secure the release of Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho as the council emphasised its support for the Yoruba nation project.

This disclosure was made by the Secretary-General of the Council, Dr. Kunle Olajide, while speaking with journalists in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.

He also cautioned Sunday Igboho and his associates to operate within the ambit of law.

The scribe of the YCE lamented that the present situation in Nigeria does not give any hope to the youth which makes them to be frustrated that led to the agitation across the country.

He stressed that the younger generation cannot be patient like the older generation, maintaining that the YCE does not oppose to their reaction but to be in the ambit of the law.

It could be recalled that Igboho was arrested by security operatives at an airport in Cotonou, Benin Republic while trying to take a flight to Germany.

The Department of State Services (DSS) in a similar development, had on July 1 raided his residence in Ibadan, Oyo state, killing two of his aides and arrested twelve others.

The DSS alleged that Sunday Igboho was stockpiling weapons, and subsequently declared him wanted but he had since denied the allegation.
