A group known as Yoruba Youth Group, Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA), has berated former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, for rating Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu above the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
In a statement signed and available by its National President, Olalekan Hammed, the group, said: “Ogunlewe’s comment is jocular, an eye service.
DAMMYLINK had earlier reported that Chief Ogunlewe had compared Chief Awolowo with the national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu by saying Tinubu had more achievements than Baba Awolowo
“None of the living politicians has been able to surpass former Premier of Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, in achievements in terms of good governance.
“Although when compared with Tinubu’s landmark achievements in terms of leadership, mentorship, and act of investing in human capital with other prominent political leaders in Nigeria, he is unbeatable.
“Starting from his outstanding performance when he was the Governor of Lagos State, his ability to mentor and bring unknown personalities to become governors, ministers, and others and how he successfully managed to nationalise progressives’ party were evidence of his unmatched political success.
Moreover, Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s visionary leadership experience placed the South-West region above African countries. His free education programme was so commendable to the extent that other regions were anxiously sharing his ideology.
The structures built for the University of Ibadan, its teaching hospital and other institutions were extraordinary. “Today’s Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) was founded by him when there were no television stations on the entire African continent.
Chief Awolowo’s records in the road network, stadia and other social amenities put in place with little resources were unbroken till date.
“Notwithstanding, since Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is the unbeatable achiever among living politicians, allowing him to govern Nigeria in 2023 will be highly advantageous for he is the most experienced and having paid his dues by giving President Muhammadu Buhari and northern Nigeria the needed support.”
